Phoebe Bridgers launches Lost Boys browser game inspired by RuneScape and Temple Run

NME · 11 hours ago

Musician Phoebe Bridgers has released a browser-based desktop game and a ringtone tied to her single 'Lost Boys', both leaning heavily on millennial nostalgia. The game draws on the 2000s classics Temple Run and RuneScape, extending the retro gaming theme already present in the song's music video and promotional campaign.

'Lost Boys' marked Bridgers' first solo music in four years and serves as the lead single from her upcoming album 'Lost Weekend', due on 14 August. The track features her Boygenius bandmates Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker, plus Christian Lee Hutson and Jack Antonoff, while the video includes several RuneScape nods and a cameo from actor Skyler Gisondo. RuneScape developer Jagex welcomed the tribute, and Bridgers' arena tour begins in North America in September before reaching Europe and the UK in November, though phones are banned at the shows.
