Phoebe Bridgers has spoken about making her acting debut in Primetime, the Robert Pattinson-led film that premiered at the Venice International Film Festival. Inspired by To Catch a Predator and its host Chris Hansen, the film sees Bridgers play one of the show's decoys, a role she initially found "super intimidating" and nearly turned down before being persuaded by director Lance Oppenheim, a friend who had previously directed her music video for "Lost Boys".

At the film's press conference, Pattinson revealed he had not known Bridgers and Oppenheim were friends before casting, joking that he had wanted to "get the queen" once her name came up. Bridgers said working alongside experienced actors put her at ease rather than intimidating her further, while Pattinson praised her natural, relaxed performance despite the film's tricky tone. Oppenheim also recalled texting Bridgers about the role, noting her distinctive deep speaking voice made her, in his view, perfect for playing a decoy, even though she initially protested she had never acted before.
