## Key points

- The FBI arrested Thomas Markle Sr. in Florida.
- A complaint alleges investigators seized about 78 items.
- The claims remain unproven in court.

## Summary

The FBI arrested Thomas Markle Sr. in Florida on suspicion of possessing child sexual abuse material, and a newly released photograph shows him being wheeled from his care home in handcuffs. The case has drawn attention because authorities in several countries have been investigating allegations involving Markle, Meghan Markle’s estranged father.

A federal criminal complaint says agents searched two storage units Markle rented in the Los Angeles area and seized about 78 items, including material suspected of containing child sexual abuse imagery. It alleges that Markle appears in two images with an underage girl and that other pictures showed children in various states of undress; the allegations have not been proven in court. Markle has denied earlier claims by his son, who said he found alleged material at his father’s home in the Philippines and reported it to authorities.
