## Key points

- Jesús de Miguel died after an on-field collision aged 30.
- Tenerife fans and clubs across Europe paid tribute.
- Police are investigating, though prosecutors say charges are unlikely.

## Summary

Fans of CD Tenerife gathered outside their stadium to honour forward Jesús de Miguel, who died after a collision during a Spanish second-division match. His death at 30 has prompted tributes across Spanish and European football, while police investigate whether the incident involved involuntary manslaughter.

De Miguel suffered cardiac arrest after a collision with FC Andorra goalkeeper Jesús Owono on Tuesday. Prosecutor José Luis Sánchez-Jáuregui said criminal charges were unlikely because the collision occurred during play. Before Champions League matches, Barcelona, Atlético Madrid and Villarreal omitted the competition’s anthem; stadiums across Europe observed silences, and Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta and midfielder Mikel Merino also paid tribute.
