A former German anti-terror police officer has confessed to the rape of a 15-year-old girl during an ongoing trial at Traunstein Regional Court. Maja S., aged 55, is expected to face approximately three and a half years in prison following the confession, which was made to spare the victim from testifying. The case raises serious questions about safeguarding failures within law enforcement and the protection of minors.

The defendant was arrested following the discovery of approximately 2,000 files containing child and animal sexual abuse material on her devices, along with a Kalashnikov rifle. Criminal activity traced back to 2024 includes uploading child sexual abuse material to the internet; the rape occurred in August 2025 and came to light when the defendant's fiancée discovered incriminating messages and reported the matter to police. The victim has been ordered compensation of €5,000, and the trial remains ongoing. The defendant has also been held in the male section of Stadelheim prison for the past five months, a placement that prompted complaints from her defence lawyer.
