Elisha Brabin, 36, and her three children, Leo, 16, Ellis, 8, and Prudence, 7, died in a house fire in Bootle during the early hours of Tuesday. Their father, Kane Stephenson, reportedly tried to rescue them by breaking windows and was taken to hospital with serious burns, while another child was staying elsewhere.
Firefighters arrived at about 3.45am to find the property well alight and the blaze spreading rapidly; six engines attended. Tributes have been left outside the home, the family has requested privacy, and Merseyside Police and Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service are jointly investigating the cause.
