PitPro Automation has installed its first robotic tyre-changing system at a Kal Tire shop in Calgary, marking the startup’s first real-world deployment in Canada. The company says the system can replace four tyres in under 15 minutes, addressing labour shortages and the physically demanding nature of tyre fitting.

The system uses two oven-sized robots, sensors and a robotic arm to remove lug nuts, take off wheels and fit replacement or rotated tyres. PitPro is targeting commercial fleets and large tyre chains, particularly in Canada where seasonal winter-tyre changes create regular demand, though it has had to adapt the robots to dust, debris and open-bay weather conditions.
