Plans in Development to Replace Edinburgh TV Festival as it Moves to Manchester

Variety · 15 hours ago

Scotland’s screen agencies are developing a new Edinburgh festival for the media and creative industries after the Edinburgh TV Festival confirmed it will move to Manchester in 2027. The proposed event aims to maintain Edinburgh’s television-industry presence while linking it more closely to the city’s wider August festival programme.

Screen Scotland has appointed consultant Rowan Woods to shape the proposal, with funding from the agency and delivery through the Fringe Society. Stakeholder consultation is due to finish in spring 2027, followed by a pilot the following summer; the programme is also expected to include the new Lynda Myles Debate, honouring the former Edinburgh International Film Festival director and TV Festival co-founder.
