## Key points

- Pocognoli wants Scotland to improve without overhauling the team.
- Scotland need four points to keep promotion play-offs within reach.
- McTominay, Adams and Tierney return; Penrice earns his first call-up.

## Summary

Sebastien Pocognoli says Scotland need to tidy up their play rather than make radical changes after a mixed first camp, which ended with a 3-0 home defeat by Slovenia. The result raised questions about the new manager’s approach and defensive organisation, but he says the team showed enough in earlier matches to build on as they close their Nations League campaign.

Scotland face North Macedonia and Switzerland this month and are third in Group B1. They need at least four points to retain a chance of reaching the promotion play-offs, while one point would ensure they avoid relegation. Scott McTominay, Che Adams and Kieran Tierney return to the squad, and James Penrice receives his first call-up; Euro 2028 qualifying begins next March.
