Pogba leaves Monaco after contract termination

BBC Sport · 2 hours ago

Paul Pogba has left Monaco after the Ligue 1 club terminated his contract just one season into a deal that was due to run until June 2027. Monaco said the move followed a mutual decision, with objectives set by both parties only "partially achieved" during his time at the club, bringing an early end to what had been billed as a high-profile comeback for the former France international.

The 33-year-old midfielder made just six appearances for Monaco last season, five of them from the bench, having joined in June 2025 after returning from a doping ban originally handed down at Juventus. His suspension was reduced from four years to 18 months by the Court of Arbitration for Sport in March 2025, clearing his path back to professional football. Pogba, a 2018 World Cup winner, is reportedly attracting interest from Major League Soccer clubs including DC United and Inter Miami, though a hamstring injury sustained during pre-season training last week could delay any potential move.
