POISON’s RIKKI ROCKETT On Why Now Is Right Time For Him To Release His Memoir: ‘I Didn’t Wanna Embarrass My Parents When They Were Alive’
POISON drummer Rikki Rockett has explained why he waited until now to publish his memoir, "Ghost Notes: My Life In Poison", saying he did not want to embarrass his parents while they were alive by revealing certain stories. In a new interview, he said that with his parents now gone and his own children old enough to understand, he felt the timing was finally right to be candid about difficult chapters of his life.
The book, written with Leif Eriksson and Martin Svensson, is due out on 15 September 2026 via Rare Bird Books. Rockett said he knew he had to address widely speculated topics such as the MTV Awards controversy, a rape accusation, and his cancer battle, though he later asked his ghostwriters to soften certain passages he felt uncomfortable with, insisting he never intended to "throw anybody under the bus". He explained the title reflects the quieter connecting moments between bigger events, and said he hoped readers would see him as a person rather than just a rock star fixture, beyond the usual "sex, drugs and rock and roll" narrative.
