Polaroid’s new Pokémon collection captures memories, not Pikachus
Polaroid has unveiled a limited-edition Pokémon collection to mark the franchise's 30th anniversary, featuring cameras, instant film and accessories themed around characters such as Pikachu and Sylveon. The range goes further than Fujifilm's Pokémon tie-in from five years ago by printing character designs directly around the frames of the instant film, and it marks a significant collaboration between the classic camera brand and one of the world's biggest entertainment franchises.
The collection includes three cameras: a $99.99 Polaroid Go Gen 3 in Pikachu-yellow or a pink-and-blue Sylveon design, and a $139.99 Polaroid Now Gen 3 styled like a Poké Ball, each with a matching strap. Instant film options include Go Color double packs at $24.99 featuring Pikachu or Sylveon, and Color i-Type film at $22.99 with pokémon silhouettes, plus collectible Poké Ball-themed protective cards. Accessories include a $24.99 case, $14.99 shoulder strap and $24.99 photo album, all Poké Ball-styled. Preorders open on 25 August in the US, Canada and the UK via Polaroid and Pokémon Center websites, with a global release following on 5 October.
