The Metropolitan Police made further arrests on the second day of Notting Hill Carnival, following 243 arrests during Sunday's "family day" as part of the event's 60th anniversary celebrations. Monday, known as "adults day", typically draws larger, louder crowds with heavier drinking, prompting a stepped-up policing operation involving stop-and-search powers and facial recognition technology across Europe's largest street festival.

Of Sunday's 243 arrests, 97 occurred on approach routes to the carnival, with offences spanning drugs, weapons, assault (including on emergency workers) and sexual offences; two knife attacks caused non-life-changing injuries. Facial recognition cameras helped identify 61 suspects, while more than 7,000 police officers and 3,000 stewards were deployed alongside metal detectors and a Section 60 stop-and-search order. Ahead of the event, officers seized 76 zombie knives, 30 flick knives and a machete, arrested seven people over a suspected robbery plot with Greater Manchester Police, and banned 330 people from attending under bail conditions. Police described the atmosphere as "overwhelmingly positive" despite the scale of arrests.
