Police launch investigation after man shot in the back with air rifle during walk near Sheffield woods
A Sheffield resident was struck by an air rifle pellet whilst walking his dog and accompanying family members in the Gleadless Valley area on Saturday afternoon. The projectile embedded in his back, resulting only in superficial bruising after his daughter extracted it at the scene. The victim noted the injury could have proven far more serious had the shot connected with his spine, neck, or head.
South Yorkshire Police have commenced an investigation into the incident, which they believe may have been intentional. The victim and his son observed movement from nearby bushes and reported seeing between three and six individuals in the area, with one wearing yellow or orange clothing. Officers are appealing for public information to identify those responsible.
