Police probe launched after unknown woman is found dead in park pond

Daily Mail · 39 minutes ago

An unidentified woman has been found dead in a pond at Lowther Gardens, a popular public park in Lytham, Lancashire. Police were called to the scene at around 9am on Monday following reports of a body in the water, prompting a multi-agency response and the temporary closure of the park while officers investigated.

Lancashire Police initially described the death as "unexplained" but later confirmed it is not being treated as suspicious, with a report to be prepared for the coroner. The woman's identity has not yet been established. Emergency services, including paramedics and firefighters, attended alongside police, and staff at the nearby Lowther Pavilion theatre were briefly asked to remain inside before the venue reopened later that morning for scheduled events. The park, which features a playground, padel courts and a bowling green, is popular with families, dog walkers and older residents.
