## Key points

- Ian Poulter is leaving LIV Golf.
- He cited family, less travel and other interests.
- More departures have left LIV’s 2027 plans uncertain.

## Summary

Ian Poulter has announced he is leaving LIV Golf, adding to a wave of high-profile departures that has raised doubts about the breakaway tour’s future. The 50-year-old Englishman said he wants to spend more time with his family, support his sons’ professional golf ambitions and pursue other interests.

Poulter joined LIV when it launched in 2022 and was co-captain of the Majesticks with Lee Westwood. His exit follows those of major champions Jon Rahm and Louis Oosthuizen, among others. Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund withdrew more than $5bn in backing in April, and LIV filed for bankruptcy protection last month; a possible $300m financing deal is intended to support a planned 2027 relaunch, but few players have committed so far.
