## Key points

- Trump promotes the Protect College Sports Act.
- The Senate is working to pass the bill.
- Debate centres on women’s sport and Title IX.

## Summary

President Trump has promoted the proposed Protect College Sports Act as it moves through Congress, with the Senate working on the legislation. The measure matters because it concerns the governance of college sport and has become part of a broader political debate over athletes’ rights and women’s sport.

The article frames the bill as still progressing through the legislative process, meaning it would need approval from both chambers of Congress before reaching the President. It also features Education Secretary Linda McMahon arguing that protections for women’s sport under Title IX should be maintained, particularly in debates involving transgender athletes.
