## Summary

President Donald Trump drew significant attention during the trophy presentation at the 2026 World Cup final, joining Spain's celebrations after the team beat Argentina 1-0 in extra time. Coverage of the ceremony noted that Trump "stole part of the spotlight" from the champions, with his involvement in the presentation becoming as much a talking point as Spain's victory itself.

The final, played at New York New Jersey Stadium in East Rutherford, brought a tense, low-scoring finish to the US-hosted tournament. Spain's Rodri received the World Cup Winner's Trophy from FIFA president Gianni Infantino, with Trump taking part in the ceremony alongside them. The tournament had already generated debate over its halftime show, featuring Shakira, Justin Bieber, BTS and Madonna, which received a mixed reception.
