Price and Clayton to meet in World Grand Prix

Former champions Gerwyn Price and Jonny Clayton will meet in an all-Welsh quarter-final at the World Grand Prix in Leicester on Friday. Their match brings together two of Wales’s leading players, with Clayton able to become Welsh number one if he wins the tournament.

Price beat Ross Smith in straight sets, avenging his defeat by Smith in a World Series final earlier this month, and has yet to drop a set in the event. Clayton defeated Wessel Nijman 3-1, averaging 93 and hitting eight 180s; Nathan Aspinall and Ryan Joyce also reached the quarter-finals with straight-set wins. Defending champion Luke Littler was eliminated by Luke Woodhouse on Monday, while four second-round matches remain on Thursday.
