Prime Video Is Officially Replacing ‘Maxton Hall’ With New Boarding School Romance Series
Amazon MGM Studios has acquired the rights to House of Crowns, a forthcoming romance novel series by Anna Todd, positioning it as a successor to Prime Video's hit German drama Maxton Hall once that show eventually ends. The move underlines Amazon's continued reliance on novel adaptations to drive engagement on Prime Video, following the success of titles such as Project Hail Mary and Maxton Hall — The World Between Us, both based on bestselling books.
House of Crowns is set at an elite boarding school in Switzerland attended by royalty and world leaders' children, and follows a forbidden romance between a scholarship student and an heiress harbouring dangerous secrets. Elinor Cook, known for Boys of Tommen, is reported to be adapting the series, while Todd's novel itself has yet to receive a publication date. The announcement comes ahead of Maxton Hall's third season, due to premiere in December, and follows Amazon's earlier deal for Todd's The Last Sunrise, which is set to launch on Prime Video later this month.
