Colony, a 39-episode science fiction series now available to stream on Prime Video, has become a cult classic despite its premature cancellation after three seasons. The show's creative approach to alien invasion storytelling and talented cast have made it a binge-worthy experience that captured the attention of major entertainment figures, including acclaimed authors Stephen King and George R.R. Martin.

The series follows Will Bowman (Josh Holloway) after mysterious aliens called the "Hosts" invade Earth, trigger a global blackout, and erect massive walls separating nations. As the narrative progresses, successive twists reveal that Will's wife Katie secretly works with the resistance, powerful world leaders knew of the invasion beforehand, and the Hosts themselves are engaged in war with a deadlier alien race, having invaded Earth to strengthen their population through culling. Showrunner Carlton Cuse intended the series to run for five or six seasons culminating in a full-scale human-alien battle, with plans for Will to become a super soldier in Season 4. George R.R. Martin was so impressed that he invited showrunner Ryan Condal to work on House of the Dragon.
