Prince Harry was reportedly aware that his uncle, Earl Spencer, was writing a memoir about Princess Diana, but had not read it. The book has triggered a public dispute after Spencer alleged that King Charles told him Diana would soon be forgotten following her death, prompting Buckingham Palace to issue an unusually pointed response.

Harry met Spencer at Althorp in July, where he visited Diana’s grave with Meghan and their children. Palace officials suggested that grief can affect memory and judgement, while the King’s supporters rejected the allegation and said such language was unlike him; reports also indicated that Harry, William and the Palace knew about the book but not necessarily its contents.
