Prison worker, 27, is jailed for 21 months for searching the records of Britain’s most notorious killers including Lucy Letby, Rose West, and Harold Shipman
A 27-year-old prison worker, Courtney Harrison, has been jailed for 21 months after using her role at HMP Moorland in Doncaster to search the confidential records of some of Britain's most notorious criminals, including Lucy Letby, Rose West and Harold Shipman. The case matters because it represents what a crown court described as a "grave breach of trust" by someone entrusted with access to sensitive prison service information.
Harrison, whose job involved a variety of administrative duties, accessed the files of prolific serial killer Harold Shipman, child murderer Rose West, infant murderer Lucy Letby and Damien Bendall, who killed two women and children with a claw hammer. She also looked up and passed on confidential details from the records of serving cash machine raider George Tunney, which ended up on his phone. She pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to misconduct in public office and to securing unauthorised access to a computer program, and sobbed in court at Sheffield Crown Court as she was sentenced.
