RAUNCHY’s new album, “Prisoner”, marks the Danish band’s return after a period of quiet following the decline of their early-2000s modern-metal scene. The review finds the record broadly successful, praising its polished production, layered sound and continued blend of melodic death metal, metalcore, industrial and pop influences, while noting that the group’s past still casts a nostalgic shadow.

Produced by Jacob Hansen and released through Mighty Music, the 10-track album receives 7.5/10. Newer vocalist Mike Semesky’s clean and aggressive vocal contrasts are particularly effective on tracks such as “Frameworker” and “Revealing I”, while “Frostbite” and “Higher Truths” are highlighted for their strong choruses; however, “Masquerade” is described as overly plodding and “Darkest Self” as leaning too heavily towards emo.
