Pro-Palestine extremist group boasts about arson attack after leaving a trail of destruction in Melbourne

Daily Mail · 3 hours ago

A pro-Palestine extremist group is believed to be behind an arson attack on Lovitt Technologies, a defence manufacturer in Greensborough, north-east of Melbourne, with the group allegedly boasting about the attack in an online video. The incident, which struck shortly before 4am on 5 July 2025, has prompted an investigation by Victoria's Joint Counter Terrorism Team, highlighting concerns about extremist violence targeting businesses linked to the defence sector amid ongoing tensions over the Israel-Gaza conflict.

The attack saw multiple vehicles set alight and the business premises vandalised, leaving a trail of destruction. The Joint Counter Terrorism Team, which brings together Victoria Police, the Australian Federal Police and ASIO, is examining whether the perpetrators were "far-left extremists" driven by anarchist and revolutionary ideologies. No arrests have yet been confirmed as investigators continue to probe the group's identity and motives.
