Producer Greg Shapiro Teases ‘Harold & Kumar 4’ At Karlovy Vary: “Hopefully We’ll Be Shooting It Soon”

Deadline · 4 hours ago

Producer Greg Shapiro announced at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival that the fourth instalment of the Harold & Kumar franchise remains in development, with the screenplay currently being written and all principal cast members and creative team committed to the project. Shapiro indicated that production could commence in the near future once the necessary elements align, emphasising the collaborative nature of assembling a film of this scale.

The project reunites the creative partnership of Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg, creators of Netflix's Cobra Kai series, who will direct from a script co-written with Josh Heald. This trio previously worked on the franchise's prior three films beginning with the 2004 original. Despite its initial modest box-office performance, the Harold & Kumar series has proven remarkably durable, accumulating approximately $104 million in worldwide revenue through both theatrical and home video channels, establishing a dedicated fan base over two decades.
