PSA: In the latest GTA 6 leak’s aftermath, it’s not a good idea to download files with names like totallylegitgta6leakedbuild.exe

Following the recent GTA 6 leak by a group calling itself Cyberleek, cybersecurity observers and users have reported a rise in malicious download links disguised as leaked footage or builds of the game. Scammers are exploiting public curiosity about the leak to spread malware, a tactic that has been flagged by security firms for months but which appears to have intensified in the leak's aftermath, making it inadvisable to download any file claiming to be GTA 6.

Reports from ResetEra users and VPN provider NordVPN point to a surge in dodgy download links appearing on piracy and torrenting sites, many falsely attributed to Cyberleek to appear more credible. At least one circulating screenshot of an alleged leaked build is also thought to be fake. With GTA 6's console launch set for 19th November and no PC release date yet announced, the risk is expected to grow, particularly for less tech-savvy users such as children or older relatives. The next official GTA 6 preview is due to premiere on Netflix on 27th August, before arriving on YouTube later that day.
