PSG reject Man City offers for midfielder Echegini
Manchester City have had multiple bids turned down by Paris St-Germain for midfielder Jennifer Echegini, with the French club unwilling to sell a player they regard as a key part of their squad despite City's interest ahead of the Women's Super League season. The 25-year-old Nigerian international still has a year left on her contract, and PSG's reluctance to negotiate leaves City needing to find alternatives before Thursday's transfer deadline, which falls just before the WSL campaign begins this weekend.
Echegini, who spent much of her youth career in England, joined PSG two years ago after a season at Juventus, and last year scored the winning goal as Nigeria beat Morocco to win a record-extending tenth Women's Africa Cup of Nations title. City's pursuit comes amid injury concerns, after Vivianne Miedema was ruled out for the start of the season with a knee problem. Separately, PSG have agreed to sell France defender Elisa de Almeida to Arsenal for around £550,000, with the move expected to complete before the deadline, though she remains available for PSG's Champions League qualifier against Eintracht Frankfurt beforehand.
