## Key points

- Pusha T says rap is becoming less original.
- He believes rap battles should stay on record.
- He and Pharrell often work 12-hour studio shifts.

## Summary

Pusha T says rap in 2026 has lost some of the individuality that once pushed artists to distinguish themselves. He argues that many now imitate what is popular, making it easier to be competent while sounding alike.

Discussing Jay-Z’s view that rap battles can be amplified by stan culture and social media, Pusha T said competition is part of rap and artists do not have to get along. He said battles should remain within music, while anything beyond that goes too far. He also described his work routine with Pharrell: they often speak at 5.30am and typically spend a 12-hour shift in the studio, from 6am to 6pm.
