Queen Latifah won over The Voice contestant Alt Bloom with an impromptu serenade during the second night of Blind Auditions. After Bloom performed a distinctive version of Maren Morris’ “The Bones”, Latifah and Riley Green turned their chairs, but Latifah intensified her pitch by bringing on two backing singers and singing that joining her team could lead to victory.

Bloom was also praised by Kelly Clarkson and Adam Levine for blending genres and showcasing an impressive lower register. Although Green admired the performance’s soulful, blues-influenced style, Bloom ultimately chose Team Queen, while Green jokingly complained that Latifah’s singers, band and theatrical presentation gave her an unfair advantage.
