Queen's legendary 1986 Budapest concert has been restored in 4K and will get a cinema and IMAX release on 7th October 2026, followed by a home release on 30th October. The show, filmed on 27 July 1986, was the first Western arena concert staged behind the Iron Curtain and stands as the final live performance ever filmed with Freddie Mercury, who died in 1991, making the restoration a significant piece of music history for both longtime fans and new audiences.

The remaster was carried out by director Peter Jackson's Park Road Post Production facility, with Jackson calling it "a rare privilege" to revive the footage. Guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor recalled the emotional impact of the night, particularly the band's performance of a Hungarian folk song learned specially for the occasion, with Taylor noting the audience's singing showed how music could transcend political barriers. The film will first premiere on 15th September at the Budapest Classics Film Marathon, followed by a UK premiere in London on 30th September, ahead of the wider theatrical release.
