## Key points

- Queens Of The Stone Age return with the psychedelic “Easy Street”
- It is their first new song since 2023
- Josh Homme says its imperfections are part of the point

## Summary

Queens Of The Stone Age have returned with “Easy Street”, their first new song since 2023’s In Times New Roman..., and the release stands out because it shows the band taking a notably different direction. Rather than leaning on their usual heaviness, the single is described as a lush, psychedelic track featuring Nikki Lane, with Josh Homme delivering an especially emotional vocal performance. The article presents it as further evidence of Homme’s wide musical range, coming just after his appearances on very different new songs by Shania Twain and Mastodon.

The song was first played live on the opening night of the band’s Catacombs tour last year and is framed as being about an unhealthy relationship, with lyrics the writer suggests could draw attention. Homme said it was recorded in an intentionally loose, imperfect way, with no click track and mistakes left in, arguing that those flaws give it a human quality. The release is accompanied by a video co-directed by Tony Wolski and Christopher Gruse, featuring a bloodied Homme fleeing through a suburban street, and it arrives ahead of Queens Of The Stone Age’s stadium tour with Foo Fighters, which begins on 4 August in Toronto.
