Queen's University Belfast has reached a new high in the QS World University Rankings, placing among the top 175 institutions globally, while also being named University of the Year at the Whatuni Student Choice Awards by its own students. The recognition matters because it reinforces the university's standing as one of Northern Ireland's two universities and a Russell Group member, with strengths spanning teaching, research and graduate employability that make it an increasingly attractive option for students, including those from mainland Great Britain.

The university reports that three in four graduates secure high-skilled jobs within 15 months, and it has ranked first or second in the UK for university spinouts for six consecutive years. Around 30% of last year's intake qualified for the means-tested Queen's Bursary, worth £480 annually, while students from Great Britain receive £3,000 scholarships covering accommodation and travel costs. The university distributed £1.4 million in hardship support in 2025-26, and its new Weavers' Hall development, opening in September, adds 459 rooms in what is described as Ireland's largest eco-friendly Passivhaus building, with studio rents there costing £9,720 for a 40-week tenancy.
