George Clooney has revealed he was left mildly annoyed by comments Quentin Tarantino made about his box-office pull, despite the pair having previously starred together in the 1996 neo-Western vampire cult classic "From Dusk Till Dawn". The film, directed by Robert Rodriguez shortly after his breakout hit "El Mariachi", is currently available on Paramount+ in the United States but is due to leave the platform soon, prompting renewed interest from fans of the recent vampire hit "Sinners".

Speaking to GQ in 2024, Clooney said he was "a little irritated" after Tarantino, in comments to Deadline, questioned whether Clooney could still be considered a genuine movie star, asking when he had last had a hit "in this millennium". Clooney responded pointedly, saying he didn't mind trading barbs since Tarantino "gave him sh*t" first, while also joking about their on-screen partnership, noting Tarantino "played my brother" and "was OK in it".
