Melbourne breakfast radio hosts Fifi Box, Brendan Fevola and Nick Cody have sparked outrage after questioning the honesty of Leah Stewart, a shark attack survivor who lost part of her arm, during their Fox FM programme. The trio cast doubt on Stewart's detailed recollection of punching a great white shark during the attack, with Fevola accusing her of "putting a lot of mayo on" her account, prompting listeners to demand the presenters be sacked.

Stewart, 35, was mauled while swimming at Sydney's Coogee Beach on 13 June and lost part of her left arm. She gave a detailed interview to Channel Nine's 60 Minutes describing how she chose which arm to sacrifice and stared into the shark's eyes while thinking of her one-year-old daughter. On air, Fevola argued she would not have had time to think so clearly during the attack, while Box was more cautious, noting only professional surfer Mick Fanning had a comparable experience of fighting off a shark. The backlash comes amid a ratings slump for the show, whose Melbourne breakfast audience share fell from 10% to 8.9%, with listeners branding the comments disrespectful and calling for the hosts' dismissal.
