## Key points

- A 57-year-old man was arrested after an alleged assault on a teenager.
- The boys say the dispute began over fishing in a residential pond.
- He faces two battery counts and one count of cruelty to a child.

## Summary

Gregory McPhedrain, 57, was arrested after video appeared to show him grabbing a 17-year-old boy by the neck in a residential area of Lee County, Florida. The case matters because the teenager and his friend say the confrontation followed a dispute over fishing, and the video appears to capture parts of the encounter.

The boys allege McPhedrain first called police over their fishing, then shouted at them, threw liquid at them from his Subaru and pursued them on foot. McPhedrain faces two counts of battery and one count of cruelty to a child; he has not entered a plea, and the sheriff’s office is investigating. He is due in court for an initial hearing.
