The 2026 Genesis Scottish Open, held at the Renaissance Club in East Lothian from 9-12 July, has drawn extra attention because Jon Rahm is making his first PGA Tour appearance outside the majors since joining LIV Golf in December 2023. Rahm is eligible because the event is co-sanctioned by the PGA Tour and DP World Tour, and he, Tyrrell Hatton and five other LIV players received conditional releases — the first time active LIV members have played a PGA Tour event. It matters as a marker of thawing relations amid uncertainty over LIV's future, with Saudi funding due to end after this season.

The £6.7m tournament also features world number one Scottie Scheffler, number two Rory McIlroy, defending champion Chris Gotterup, home favourite Robert MacIntyre and Brooks Koepka, with many using the links test to prepare for The Open at Royal Birkdale the following week. The course has reverted to its 2019 routing, switching the first seven holes of each nine while keeping the par 70 and 7,282-yard length, aiming for a stronger closing stretch — a change backed by Viktor Hovland. Three places at The Open are also on offer for non-exempt players.
