Range Rover has unveiled its first fully electric model, the Range Rover Electric, which deliberately mirrors the styling of its petrol and hybrid siblings rather than adopting a radically different design. This is notable because many rivals have used electrification as a chance to reinvent their looks, whereas Jaguar Land Rover has opted for continuity, betting that familiarity will appeal to buyers wanting an EV that still looks unmistakably like a Range Rover.

Beneath the skin, the SUV uses twin 260kW electric motors drawing on a 118.5kWh battery, giving roughly 330 miles of real-world range, 542bhp and 627lb-ft of torque. An 800-volt system allows 10-80% DC fast charging in 22 minutes, though its 4.3-second 0-60mph time trails EV rivals such as Lucid and Rivian. Orders are open now with UK prices starting at £154,070, with production based at JLR's Solihull plant; the car arrives more than five years after it was first announced and two years later than originally promised, and JLR says it has filed 300 patents covering features such as near-instant traction adjustment, steep-incline one-pedal driving and wading depths of almost a metre.
