Prime Video's "Reacher" is entering its fourth season with a deliberate shift in tone and approach, adapting Lee Child's 2009 novel "Gone Tomorrow" rather than simply escalating the action for its own sake. Rather than pushing for a "bigger" spectacle after Season 3's fight against a taller opponent, executive producer and director Sam Hill says the goal this time is to make the season feel "different", placing star Alan Ritchson's character Jack Reacher in unfamiliar and uncomfortable territory. This matters for fans of the franchise because it signals the show is trying to avoid formulaic escalation and instead deepen its storytelling as it heads into its fourth run.

In the new season, Reacher travels to Philadelphia, where a chance encounter with a distraught woman on a subway spirals into a much larger conspiracy, putting him in a position where he doesn't fully know what he's up against.
