## Key points

- Trump posted a 1,300-word attack on Bill Maher.
- Maher joked about its length on *Real Time*.
- He said their dinners were meant for candid conversation.

## Summary

Bill Maher responded on *Real Time* to Donald Trump’s 1,300-word social media post attacking him after the pair dined together earlier this month. Maher joked about the post’s length and insults, while saying the dinners were intended to allow them to talk and disagree in person.

Maher said he would not answer every allegation, but planned to address some of them, and conceded that Trump’s description of him as a “complete and total loser” was fair. The article also notes that Maher previously dined with Trump and Kid Rock last year; Trump later called that meeting a “total waste of time”, and the latest dinner included Stephen A. Smith.
