Red Bull have appointed former Aston Martin performance director Tom McCullough as their new head of racing, starting in 2027. The 50-year-old Briton replaces Gianpiero Lambiase, who is departing for McLaren to take up the role of chief racing officer at some point before 2028, in a move that reshapes the leadership of two of Formula 1's leading teams.

McCullough spent more than a decade at the team now known as Aston Martin, having also worked there under its previous identities of Force India and Racing Point, and earlier held roles at Williams and Sauber. He was moved from Aston Martin's race team into its performance technologies division following a January 2025 restructure. In his new position, he will effectively oversee all aspects of Red Bull's race team, reporting to team principal Laurent Mekies, while questions remain over whether the appointment could help smooth negotiations allowing Lambiase—well known as Max Verstappen's race engineer—to leave for McLaren earlier than planned.
