Reddit plans to further restrict access to Old Reddit, its classic browsing experience, to curb scraping and automated traffic. In the next few months, users will need to be logged in and to have used Old Reddit within the previous six months; the company says this covers most Old Reddit users.

Reddit also says RSS feeds will stop working on 13 November because they are used for large-scale scraping, with no replacement for feeds outside communities a user moderates. The restrictions follow other efforts to limit unauthorised access to Reddit data, while the company has licensed data to Google and OpenAI for AI training. Moderators will retain Old Reddit access without the recent-use requirement, and public API access is due to end in stages: unregistered apps from 12 January 2027, with the remaining access ending in March 2027.
