Reijnders leaves Man City for Al-Qadsiah in £52m deal

BBC Sport · 2 hours ago

Netherlands midfielder Tijjani Reijnders has left Manchester City for Saudi Arabian club Al-Qadsiah in a £52m deal, less than a year after joining the Premier League side. The move marks another swift departure from City's midfield this summer, following Rodri's exit to Barcelona and Bernardo Silva's free transfer to Real Madrid, as the club continues to reshape its squad under new manager Enzo Maresca.

Reijnders, 28, joined City from AC Milan for £46.5m last summer but struggled to establish himself, making 50 appearances and scoring seven goals while helping the club win the FA Cup and Carabao Cup. He was omitted from Maresca's squad for Sunday's 3-0 Community Shield defeat by Arsenal and has reportedly signed a five-year contract at Al-Qadsiah, where he will be managed by former Liverpool and Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers. City are also pursuing further midfield reinforcements, with talks ongoing for Lille's Ayyoub Bouaddi and continued interest in Chelsea's Enzo Fernandez.
