## Key points

- Estevao impressed in his first Premier League start of the season.
- Chelsea beat Manchester United 2-0 without a recognised striker.
- His performance may increase pressure on Alonso to keep him in the side.

## Summary

Estevao Willian delivered a lively first Premier League start of the season as Chelsea beat Manchester United 2-0, strengthening the case for the 19-year-old winger to feature more often. His attacking threat stood out in a match Chelsea played without a recognised striker, and the home crowd gave him a standing ovation when he was substituted.

Estevao had two goals ruled out for offside and finished with six shots, 12 touches in the opposition penalty area, three chances created, eight crosses and five completed dribbles. He had started only once before this season, in a League Cup match, prompting speculation about his limited opportunities; Chelsea and people close to him have indicated he is not unhappy. Head coach Xabi Alonso said he had decided after the previous weekend’s defeat by Tottenham that Estevao would start, and praised his preparation and performance.
