Richarlison, Danso and Sarr ask to leave Spurs

BBC Sport · 4 hours ago

Tottenham forward Richarlison, defender Kevin Danso and midfielder Pape Matar Sarr have all asked to leave the club, head coach Roberto de Zerbi confirmed after Saturday's 2-0 home defeat by Newcastle, in which none of the trio featured in the matchday squad. De Zerbi said the players must find an "economic solution" acceptable to the club before any departures can proceed, adding that he has good relationships with all three despite their wishes to move on. The news comes as Spurs sit bottom of the Premier League without a goal scored after two matches, despite spending over £300m this summer following consecutive 17th-placed finishes.

Richarlison, last season's top scorer with 11 goals, has been displaced by loan signing Omar Marmoush, while Danso faces increased competition following the arrivals of Marcos Senesi and Jan Paul van Hecke, with Spurs having already turned down a season-long loan bid from Sunderland. Sarr's midfield opportunities have been squeezed by the signings of Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali, and Italian sources say Juventus are confident of agreeing a loan with an obligation to buy, fending off interest from Premier League clubs and Turkey's Besiktas.
