FX has confirmed that filming is officially underway on the second season of Alien: Earth, the Ridley Scott-produced sci-fi series that proved a hit in 2025, and has announced three new cast additions. Chief among them is Game of Thrones star Jerome Flynn, who played Bronn, alongside Curb Your Enthusiasm's Tracey Ullman and Sam Spruell. The news signals continued momentum for the franchise on television, even as Scott himself prepares his own return to directing science fiction.

Created for FX by Fargo showrunner Noah Hawley, Alien: Earth performed well enough on its 2025 debut to earn a renewal. Spruell, who recently appeared as Prince Maekar Targaryen in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, has previously worked with Hawley on Fargo. Separately, Scott is returning to the genre with a new film, The Dog Stars, starring Josh Brolin, Jacob Elordi, Margaret Qualley and Benedict Wong, which is due in cinemas worldwide on 28 August; it marks his first sci-fi directing effort since Alien: Covenant, following recent historical epics such as Napoleon and Gladiator II.
