Ridley Scott's 2012 sci-fi film Prometheus has found renewed popularity on streaming, currently available on Peacock and, via Prime Video, the Cinemark Channel, while also proving a hit on Netflix internationally. The resurgence comes as Scott endures a difficult 2026, with his latest film, The Dog Stars, becoming his third consecutive box-office disappointment despite a $70 million budget and being based on a well-regarded novel by Peter Heller.

Scott is next set to direct Treasure Island, due to begin filming later this year, and has expressed interest in casting Hugh Grant and Owen Cooper alongside already-attached star Hugh Jackman. He has also confirmed he is developing an Alien: Covenant follow-up with Michael Fassbender, focused on his android character David, though no director or release details have been set, and a separate sequel to 2024's Alien: Romulus is reportedly in early development. Prometheus, which grossed more than $400 million at the box office nearly 15 years ago, served as a prequel to the Alien franchise Scott began with his 1979 original.
