Ridley Scott’s First Sci-Fi Movie in 9 Years Officially Releases This Week
Ridley Scott’s first science-fiction film in nine years, The Dog Stars, is due to be released on 28 August. The film marks Scott’s return to a genre closely associated with his career after several historical dramas that did not match the box-office success of The Martian.
Based on Peter Heller’s 2012 post-apocalyptic novel, The Dog Stars is not part of an existing film franchise. Scott’s last sci-fi feature as director was 2017’s Alien: Covenant, which received mixed reviews and underperformed commercially, while The Martian earned more than $600 million worldwide in 2015.
