Ridley Scott’s Sci-Fi Saga Officially Returns in First Look at Prime Video Sequel

Collider · 4 hours ago

Prime Video has released the first images from Blade Runner 2099, a forthcoming television sequel to Blade Runner and Blade Runner 2049. The series, produced by Ridley Scott, returns to the franchise’s dystopian world while shifting its social order so that replicants hold power and humans are treated as second-class citizens.

Michelle Yeoh plays Olwen, a replicant Blade Runner whose storyline is said to draw on Roy Batty from the original film, while Hunter Schafer plays her human partner Cora, who must pose as a replicant after previously fleeing Blade Runners. Writer Silka Luisa said the programme will be a direct successor to the films but will also draw strongly from Philip K. Dick’s novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep; it is due on Prime Video later in 2026.

  • First images reveal Michelle Yeoh and Hunter Schafer’s Blade Runner 2099 characters.
  • Replicants rule the city in the sequel’s altered social order.
  • The Prime Video series is expected later in 2026.
