Milo Yiannopoulos, the British right-wing commentator and former Breitbart editor, has been deported from the United States to the UK after being detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The Department of Homeland Security said he had overstayed his visa, ending a years-long period in the country for a figure known for political provocation and controversial public remarks.

Yiannopoulos, 41, was arrested on 27 August after arriving at New Orleans airport and was deported on Friday, according to DHS. Officials said he entered the US in May 2019 and remained in breach of immigration rules; he had previously supported Donald Trump, worked with Kanye West’s 2020 presidential campaign and assisted former congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene.
